Concrete Social Commitment

Pastificio BIA has always sought to create synergies with various entities, both economic, social and institutional, operating in the territory. In fact, it is among the first companies to establish the Madonie Producers Consortium, a consortium of agri-food companies born from the desire to promote and enhance the typical products of the territory made by hand by companies operating in the Madonie area.

Since its inception, Pastificio BIA has adhered to Addiopizzo, the Association that deals, in addition to providing free assistance to victims of extortion, with critical consumption as the main strategy in the fight against the mafia. To date, BIA products are also on sale in the Addiopizzo Store circuit (including online) and one of our members actively participates in the hearings requested by those who want to join the network.

Since 2019, it has started producing organic dry pasta for Libera Terra (Libera Terra Mediterraneo Social Cooperative Onlus Consortium), processing durum wheat semolina from Southern Italy from lands confiscated from the mafia.

It also collaborates, since its establishment, with the Verbumcaudo Social Cooperative, which manages the agricultural fund of the same name that until 1983 belonged to the Greco mafia family and that, thanks to the investigations of Judge Giovanni Falcone and its first confiscation, was then acquired by the real estate assets of the Sicilian Region and today entrusted to the young people of this cooperative. From these lands today comes the organic artisan pasta Feudo Verbumcaudo produced in Pastificio BIA on behalf of this young reality.

Currently, together with two other cooperatives/non-profit organizations, operating in the social and training sectors, and in agreement with the Ucciardone “C. Di Bona” Detention Center, the company is carrying out a training, social inclusion and job placement program for thirteen detainees, through the reactivation of the Laboratory-Pasta Factory located inside the Detention Center, for the production and packaging of food pasta (fresh and dry). The goal is to create an entrepreneurial reality that can generate opportunities for training, work and social inclusion for the detainees involved in the production activity.

A quality improvement journey

BIA Artisan Pasta Factory was founded in 2004 and is mainly involved in the production and marketing of artisan pasta, both fresh and dry, including organic, as well as high-quality catering.

2004

Pastificio Bia SRL is founded, primarily engaged in the production of artisan pasta, both fresh and dry.

2009

The BIA brand is present in the Organized Large-Scale Distribution in Sicily as a supplier to the main national and international groups.

2015

Obtains Organic Certification certified by the Certification Body Bios Srl pursuant to EC Regulation 834/2007.

2015

Begins the production of fresh pasta from ancient Sicilian grains ground with natural stone, using whole semolina of Tumminia, Russello, Perciasacchi and Senatore Cappelli.

2016

The company begins to invest in regional radio and television advertising, sponsoring the shows "Insieme Show", "Sicilia Cabaret", "Gustare Sicilia" and "Di che Pasta sei", broadcast on Antenna Sicilia, Telecolor and TGS, the main local Sicilian television broadcasters.

2017

A new facility is built for the exclusive production of high-quality artisan dry pasta, including organic, produced with Sicilian durum wheat semolina from a certified supply chain.

2017

"BIA Alta Ristorazione" is born, the specific line for the catering sector.

2019

Adherence to the C.I.B.O (Culture - Identity - Biodiversity - Organization) Network in Sicily, implementing body of the "District of supply chains and territories of Sicily in Network" registered in the national register of Food Districts.

2021

A new production facility is established with state-of-the-art structural, construction and functional characteristics, both in terms of food safety and respect for the environment. The company also obtains IFS Food certification for the new plant.

2021

Pastificio BIA, together with a few other entities in the Sicilian cereal supply chain, establishes the "Consortium for the Protection and Enhancement of Safe Quality Durum Wheat guaranteed by the Sicilian Region", which aims to enhance Sicilian agri-food and cereal products with a high quality standard.

2023

The company joins the Sicilian Cereal Production District, entering the Governance through the establishment of the Sicilian Cereal Business Network (REC-S), as the only company representing all fresh pasta producers in Sicily.

2025

DispensaBia.com is launched, an eCommerce platform for the online marketing of a specific line of pasta and local gastronomic products.
